Definitions:

  • In <em>petrography</em>, a name suggested by Loewinson-Lessing (1891), for lavas having a brecciated or schlieric appearance, due to parts having different colors, textures, or composition. When banded or streaked the texture is <em>eutaxitic;</em> when brecciated, it is <em>ataxitic.</em>
